SSC GD Selection Process 2027

The SSC GD Selection Process 2027 will include the Computer Based Examination (CBE), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Physical Standard Test (PST), Detailed Medical Examination (DME) and Document Verification (DV). Candidates will have to qualify at each stage as required for final selection.

Computer Based Examination

Candidates will first appear for the Computer Based Examination. Candidates who get the minimum qualifying marks in the CBE will be considered for the next stage, which is PET/PST.

The minimum qualifying marks in the CBE will be:

  • UR: 30%
  • OBC/EWS: 25%
  • All Other Categories: 20%

These marks will be considered without adding NCC bonus marks.

NCC Bonus Marks

Candidates having an NCC Certificate will get extra marks. These marks will be added to the normalized marks of the CBE.

The NCC bonus marks will be:

  • NCC ‘C’ Certificate: 5% of the maximum marks of the examination
  • NCC ‘B’ Certificate: 3% of the maximum marks of the examination
  • NCC ‘A’ Certificate: 2% of the maximum marks of the examination

Candidates who claim NCC bonus marks will have to show their valid NCC Certificate during Document Verification. If the candidate is unable to produce the valid certificate, the NCC bonus marks given to the candidate will be removed.

Shortlisting for PET/PST

Male and female candidates will be shortlisted separately based on their merit in the Computer Based Examination. The shortlisting will be done State-wise, area-wise and category-wise, wherever applicable.

NCC bonus marks will also be included while preparing the merit list for this stage.

Around 8 times the number of vacancies will be shortlisted for the PET/PST. A higher number of candidates may be shortlisted against the vacancies of SSF.

Candidates who qualify the PET/PST will be considered for the next stage of the selection process.

DME and Document Verification

Candidates who qualify the PET/PST will be considered for shortlisting for the Detailed Medical Examination (DME) and Document Verification (DV).

The shortlisting will again be based on the CBE merit, including NCC bonus marks wherever applicable. Male and female candidates will be shortlisted separately on a State-wise, area-wise and category-wise basis.

Around 2 times the number of vacancies will be shortlisted for the DME/DV stage. More candidates may be shortlisted against SSF vacancies.

Document Verification will be carried out by the CAPFs along with the Detailed Medical Examination. Candidates will have to submit their required certificates and documents and show the original documents for verification.

SSC GD Force Preference

Candidates will have to select their preferred CAPFs/Organizations while filling out the SSC GD Online Application Form.

Candidates must fill in the preference for all seven forces/organizations in order of priority.

The available preferences are:

  1. BSF (A)
  2. CISF (B)
  3. CRPF (C)
  4. SSB (D)

Candidates should select their force preferences carefully while filling out the application form. After the online application is completed, the Commission will not accept any request to change the force preference.

Final Selection

Candidates who qualify the PET/PST and Medical Examination/DV will be considered for the final merit list.

The final selection will be based on the normalized marks obtained in the Computer Based Examination, including NCC bonus marks, along with the other conditions of the recruitment.

The final selection and force allocation will be made separately for male and female candidates for each State/UT and applicable areas.

The selection will take into account the following categories:

  • Un-Reserved (UR)
  • Scheduled Caste (SC)
  • Scheduled Tribe (ST)
  • Other Backward Classes (OBC)
  • Economically Weaker Section (EWS)
  • Ex-Servicemen (ESM)

Candidates will also be considered separately for vacancies in Border Guarding areas and Militancy/Naxal affected Districts wherever applicable.

For SSF, selection will be made on an All-India basis.

CAPF/Organization Allocation

The allotment of CAPFs/Organizations will be made on the basis of:

CBE Merit + NCC Bonus Marks + Force Preference

The allotment will also depend on the candidate qualifying the PET, PST, Medical Examination and other requirements of the recruitment.

Candidates should be very careful while giving their force preferences in the online application form. Once the application process is completed, no request to change the order of preference will be accepted.

Domicile State and District

Candidates will be considered for the vacancies of a State/UT and the applicable Border Guarding or Militancy/Naxal affected Districts based on the information entered in the online application form.

The domicile State and district entered in the specific domicile section of the application form will be considered.

The permanent address or correspondence address mentioned in the application form will not be used to decide the candidate’s domicile State or district.

Candidates should enter their domicile State and district carefully.

After submission of the online application form, no request to change the domicile State or district will be accepted.

If the State or district mentioned in the application form does not match the domicile certificate submitted during DME/Document Verification, the candidature will be cancelled and the candidate will not be allowed to take part in the Detailed Medical Examination.

Candidates from Border and Naxal/Militancy Affected Areas

Candidates belonging to Naxal/militancy affected areas will first be considered for vacancies in those areas and then for vacancies in general areas.

Candidates belonging to border areas will first be considered for border-area vacancies and then for general-area vacancies.

Candidates who belong to both Naxal/militancy affected areas and border areas will first be considered for Naxal/militancy affected area vacancies, followed by border-area vacancies and then general-area vacancies.

Reservation and Merit

SC, ST, OBC, EWS and ESM candidates who are selected on their own merit without using any relaxation will be counted against the Un-Reserved vacancies according to their position in the overall merit list.

The reserved vacancies will then be filled from eligible candidates of the respective categories.

Candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, EWS and ESM categories who qualify by using relaxation in age, height, chest measurement, qualification, number of chances or other allowed relaxations will be counted against the reserved vacancies.

In the case of Ex-Servicemen, the deduction of military service from the age limit will be allowed. This will not be treated as relaxation for deciding the category of vacancy.

Checking of Eligibility

Candidates applying for SSC GD 2027 must make sure that they meet all the eligibility requirements of the examination.

Admission to every stage will be temporary until the candidate’s eligibility is checked.

If it is found at any stage that a candidate does not meet the eligibility requirements, the candidature or selection can be cancelled.

This checking can be done before or after the CBE, PET/PST, Medical Examination, issue of the appointment letter or even after joining the Force/Organization.

Selection Does Not Guarantee Appointment

Qualifying in the SSC GD Examination does not automatically give a candidate the right to get an appointment.

The appointment will be made only after all required checks are completed and the Government is satisfied that the candidate meets the requirements for appointment.

Representation Regarding Result

If a candidate scores more than the cut-off marks in any Paper or stage but is not selected for the next stage or final selection for any reason, the candidate can contact the concerned Regional Office of the Commission.

The representation must be made within two months from the date of declaration of the result or two weeks before the next stage of the examination, whichever is earlier.

Withheld Final Result

If the final result of a candidate is withheld, the result may be sent to the Nodal Force, i.e. CRPF, in a sealed cover or encrypted form, as decided by the Commission.

The Nodal Force will take further action and declare the final result of such candidates.

If a candidate is found to be “Not Genuine”, the Commission will take action according to the examination rules after receiving the required report from the Nodal Force.

After Final Selection

Candidates who are finally selected but do not receive any communication from the Commission or the concerned CAPF/Organization within one year from the declaration of the final result should contact the concerned CAPF/Organization immediately.

Candidates should keep their contact details and other information updated and regularly check official recruitment updates after the final result.
